Shakespeare, William; Tree, Herbert Beerbohm King John Souvenir Programme London British Mutoscope and Biograph Company Ltd 1899 Disbound Poor Front cover is missing and first ten pages are detached. The photographs are very good, though the actors look demented, and also include additional tableaux. This King John was the first filmed Shakespeare, largely a publicity stunt, and the short silent film was followed by a Souvenir Programme. There is also spotting to edge of pages, fascinating piece of theatre/film history still. Due to condition, this is sold as seen. Price:

Shakespeare, William; Meadows. Kenny (illustrator) The Works of Shakspeare Revised from the Best Authorities with a Memoir and Essay on His Genius By Bryan W. Procter (Barry Cornwall), Also Annotations and Introductory Remarks and Numerous Illustrative Engravings By Kenny Meadows and T. H. Nicholson Blackie & Son 1887 Hard Cover Good Meadows, Kenny Vols 1 is dated 1887, 2 and 3 are dated 1886 and 4 to 6 are undated - all are bound in the same way. Cover art work is in very good condition, the volumes are bound in brown cloth with gilt titles to spine and front cover. On the spine are two cherub like figures on a green foreground and on the cover, there are two men, one in the style of Greek tragedy, picked out with black on brown within green foreground. Round the whole of the front cover, a border in brown, black and green runs. Volumes 1 and 4 do have a few spots of foxing on end pages but there are very few spots, 5 to 10 per volume. All have some handling marks and a name and address neatly inscribed to the second fep. All the volumes have some lean to the spine and wear to spine ends. Volume 1 has a bumped corner and some bowing to the front cover; 2 and 3 have some bowing to front cover and 4 has been struck by something hard to rear cover edge, causing it to bend. Price:
