Dark red cloth covers with titles to spine and front on a gilt foreground, the cover is illustrated with a figure rowing down a river - black, turqoise, orange and pink are used to create sky, river mouth and land. There is a further illustration to the spine and the branches of a tree to the top of the front cover. Very light wear to spine ends. There is some spotting to end pages but text is clean. 11 illustrations including frontispiece. 246 pages plus 8 pages advertisements.

One page is loose but present. 239pp plus 16 of adverts.
